Electric windows to work with key in position '1' not '2'
Hi All
Firstly, this awesome forum has been excellent help with my new Landy...

To change the operation of the electric windows from position '2' to '1' on the ignition (2012 2.2 puma)...
Is this something that can be done via the cpu or is it a rewiring job?
For me there is nothing worse than being in the bush and having to turn the key to '2' so the windows will work (the fuel pump turns on and completely disturbs the ambiance...)

Thanks for any help in advance.

in the fusebox there will be some permanent live fuses, some ignition pos1 and ign pos2 live fuses, obviously the windows are currently tapped into the pos2 feed, so you just need to find something that works on pos1 (on Td5's it's the heater fan), see where the live side of the fuse gets it's feed from (will be a cluster of wires the same colour) then rig it from the window fuse.

I'm not sure where the fuse panel is on a puma, but if it's like a Td5 then 6" of wire and a soldering iron will sort it.

Thanks diesel_jim
I'll have to get some courage before I go playing with the wiring.
Thanks again

The window lift relay R143 (under the column) is connected to 10A link 3 in the BJB (under the driver's seat) whcih is permanent live. The relay is energised by a switched supply from the ignition switch, which passes via 5A CJB Fuse 15 then header K109 to the realy. When the ignition is switched, the relay is energised, and the windows can operate.

Header K109 (on the bulkhead under the column) is way too complex to mess with (it distributes the ignition feed to the headlamp relay, HRS, HFS timer, IPAC, dim-dip relay as well as the window lift, and also joins two of the main harness segments together with many other connections), so I would suggest that any mods you want to make should be "downstream" of this header.

If you could take a feed from 5A CJB Fuse 44 (radio) and connect it to C0042-85 (the "85" connector on relay R143) you shoudl achieve the desired result. Make sure you insulate and secure the cut end of the original wire to the relay since it will still be live and conncted to many other circuits,

Thought I'd revive this this thread...
My list is running short so this mod has returned to the top 5...
Anyone else out there done this? Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
