Which headlight wireing upgrade.
I have searched the forum for advice on which loom upgrade is best out of Boomslang or Land Rieziger .

I have read of melting fuse holders, cables running hot ,cables perceived to be to thin to cope and relays running hot none of which gives me peace of mind when trying to decide which to buy. There is also the option of plastic or ceramic connectors.

Now I could just jump in with both feet and find out later that I have wasted my money and time, this not something I am keen on as I hate been made a fool by some money making firm who do not care about what they sell or if the product is fit for purpose such as Land Rover with the main light switch that is prone to burning out. Land Rover must still be using the same switch that they used on Classic Range Rover I had one of those go at 3.00 am on the M1 while towing a caravan which was a real brown trouser moment.

So the questions are :-
Do is install the Boomslang or the Land Rieziger?
What modifications do I do to make either one safe ?

I would be interested in the pros and cons of each.

I will let you choose and if its wrong then I can comeback and have a good rant . Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,

Land Reziger with or without ceramic connectors is fine, fit and forget. I'm my case I just added a little colour coding which suited me. I also changed to Durite Relays with diode. Again you don't have to.

If you have incandescent bulbs as headlights I'd tend to go for ceramic, but not a necessity. If you have or want LED's as I now have plastic connectors are fine. I'm not overly keen on the quality of the Boomslang looms. You can of course make your own loom if you wanted, but not all of us have the time or inclination to do so. 👍🏻 No Guts, No Glory.

Boomslang looms are OK, but you can buy almost identical ones as Boomslang off eBay for a fiver . The only difference is the red live feed wire is slightly shorter, however if you are taking the feed from the alternator that does not matter if from the battery then just join an extra length to the feed wire.

I have bought Boomslang and the eBay ones and the relays are the same, though I would always recommend swapping the relays for a good quality make.

As Custom90steve has said Land Reziger are the best in fact I would go as far as saying they are like OEM quality. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

I do have the Land Reziger twin relay and mounting screw brand new unused if anyone wants it. Surplus to use to me. If anyone wanted to make their own or wanted a twin relay system No Guts, No Glory.

None of those two. Rolling Eyes
Land Reziger or Land Rieziger just do not exist. It is Landreiziger, which actually means Overlander.
Some people on here do not like it when I call Nakatanenga just Naka as a short. At least I will never call them anything like Nakalaningla or so. Laughing
I did click the Land "thing" in the poll, have it for years, works perfect, and even my dealer commented that it is a first class piece of kit. Thumbs Up
Below is link to the def2 original long much commented Landreiziger thread. I still have to hear the first negative comment about this loom, but I think to have seen several of the problems listed by the OP mentioned in other threads about the Boomslang loom.

It’s a British thing we love to split foreign language words and to hyphenate, particularly when they are fronted by English words . Rolling with laughter For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Gilarion, Oh I see. So you mean I should be writing Naka Ta Ninja. Rolling with laughter

Custom Steeve, sorry to see you take it a bit personal.

I'm off now, going to watch French TV election show now and (hopefully, but probably yes) enjoy the results of their elections. Thumbs Up

Well after reading another post about headlight failure I thought that I should get a loom ordered as the light switch has been in service since 2008. I have ordered the Landreiziger with the ceramic connectors. I just have to sort out a translator when the site switches from Edge to IE. Don't make old people mad.

Can I ask why you changed the relays and which one's did you change them to. Don't make old people mad.

I fitted the boomslang loom on mine from paddocks.
I would say it was only OK quality, came with ceramic fittings but I had to re-crimp all the connectors after a wire fell off when taking it out of the box!
