Resistor pack has thrown it's hand in or a terminal on it has become detached. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Deffo not a terminal, I messed about with it whilst the dash binnacle was out.
When you say resistor pack, there is a resistor on the mechanism or do you mean the actual lever (used to call them rheostats when I were a lad) Disco 300TDi XS - Gone Disco 3 SE manual - Gone 😭 Freelander 2 SE manual Defender 110 TD5 DC |

Forgot yours is a TD5. The Puma has two seperate resistors 0.45 and 0.55 ohms which are switched in individually or in series dependant on fan speed selected.
Same principle, get a multimeter and check that your potentiometer hasn't an open circuit perhaps or more likely a short circuit as it is on high speed only? K9F. You out there listening?
If so how you keeping? We got snow today which is more defender weather than HD but I guess you'll still be over the moon with the HD. Out with the polishing rag each night and standing back in admiration? Speed 1 on mine packed a while back. Speed 2 also now packed in and just speed 3 left. I'm guessing both resistors are shot and we're running a direct circuit now? Where are the resistors - I need to swap? Forgot to add the illumination of the speed/numbers I also intermittent. The speed control isn't intermittent just the illumination. |
