Had my 90 converted up from a 4 speed auto box to 6 speed just over a year ago. Work done by JE AutoWorks (were JE Engineering). Been really pleased with it. |

You're very kind! Haven't seen you around since that last meet, but my daughter keeps asking if I've "bumped into any more Defender fans" lately ...!

Hi jellybean
Is it smooth and does it pull off in first or second ? I don't suppose you have any pics of the conversion as in the gearbox to transfer box plate Also the know the box of trickery that makes it work i.e. Like a controller and does it have a name Regards steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

Just been on the JE site too see who's g/box they are using, I'm a little bit interested but could not see! However if ranger g/box I believe is only rated around 500nm. They are know too fail out here, specially on the mine ones. MD Engineering use a Merc one I think!

Steve - I'm not that technical, I'm afraid! But, I can tell you that it pulls away in first. The transmission is Ford 6R80 TX (as fitted to Ford Ranger / F150 / Mustang). I'll tell you if it fails....!!!

Now I am not in the mines now due too ill health. However the only reason they went over from Tojo was because they had a higher safety rating due to more air bags! That been said, the lads didn't like them, for more than one reason. However evan with standard output they kill auto boxes, Ford kept the tune/map low for this. If I put a ranger 3.2 in with an auto I will be doing the usual mods, so I would be back too where I started from, another fusible link

There must be a reason for failure i.e. High oil temps or something ? 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs
