Yes a very nice chap
Well nearly 500 miles done since the MOT. All is going well, running well and driving very well. A couple of niggles still to sort and I definately need to get the LPG sorted. I think though that I'm going to get the head off the defender pretty soon as I've got a Nürburg Ring trip planned in September and want to take the 90 (shame I can't drive both ) 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

No further on the 3D job yet. The prototype is done but the final design needs some tweaking before it's ready 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Nothing much to report on the Range Rover. All is going well really. A bit of very gentle offroading today. Seems to have settled at 13mpg but is definately running rich. Going to play around with the mapping at some point but that's a while in the future.
Started converting the dash to LED illumination. The heater controls are done, need to do the auxiliary switches, clock and speedo. Anyway here are some pics Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

I've used warm white led strip from eBay. I used the heater control panel off the donor so as to keep the original if needed. The clock and dials I'll probably just use retrofit LED units. The ones in my defender are from eBay seller fizzmo UK. Really good quality, I haven't had a single failure 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Why do you change to LED's, what's the benefits?
I don't understand why people do it to indicators etc. Each to their own, I get that, I just wondered if there is something I'm missing. The reasons for the change to LED are many.
1. LEDs have a huge burn time (50,000 hours plus) so effectively last forever. 2. They put out far more light per watt than incandescent lamps. 3. LEDs light up much quicker than incandescent lamps. 4. LEDs run much cooler than incandescent lamps. 5. They are solid state and so vibration proof. The advantages of this are. 1. They don't need changing. 2. Put less electrical load on the system. 3. More reaction time in the case of brake lights. 4. Won't discolour light filters behind instruments etc. 5. Vibration resistance means they'll last longer in an automotive environment. I would never put LED lamps into a standard light unit for road lighting. This needs to be e marked and approved and always requires a change of light unit (hence on my defender I have speaker lighting all round which is approved.) On the Range Rover specifically the heater control panel illumination was only half working anyway. It made sense to me to convert to LED whilst I was in there to prevent having to remove it in the future to change the lamps. Hopefully that explains it? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

I'm still keeping the 90 cleaned and polished Also using it on site for odd duties to keep it moving. Unfortunately we have had two members of staff leave due to health issues so I haven't got (and am not going to have) the time to sort the 90 until September when the site quietens down.
Also I don't really want to leave it in the workshop when we're at our busiest - there is a risk of accidental damage which I don't really want to take. Lots of things going in and out which is asking for trouble I'm going to get the parts in stock though so when the time comes I'll be on it like sonic 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |
