Mine does this VERY occasionally (maybe twice in the last 3 years) It hasn't happened for a while though. I can only think that it is either a very intermittent earth fault or just where the transducer is stopped in a certain position and the electrical interference on start-up generates a pulse that makes the speedo jump. Mine went to about 70mph and stayed there for a couple of seconds

I've noticed mines doing this once in the last two years, nothing has come of it so I suppose it was just an electronics glitch.

Usually happens when starting on a low battery.
Also sometimes you will notice the fuel gauge go to empty. Signifies your battery or grounding has issues. The defender has migrated, leaving the owner behind. |
