I'm cleaning up my bullbar, from many bush excursions and a small amount of welding is required...
With my old Tdi, it was a simple task of removing the battery terminals, but should I be concerned about the ECU (& or other electronics) on the TDCI? With the steering guard & the wee bit of welding, it's not worth removing the whole bullbar. Thanks in advance Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. I'm never sure of the official answer but I normally unplug the ECU to be safe although it's very probably totally unnecessary but better safe than sorry !
Making sure you have a good earth via your welding clamp close to where you are welding is always a good idea too as it helps localise the welding currents. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |
