it could be ... just remove the speaker and check ... if you can't see anything, take it to the dealer. It used to happen on my Td5 ... The standard speakers aren't the best, so it's likely that one has blown. I had the same thing with my passenger speaker. When mine went, I took both speakers out and swapped them over just to make sure that it was a dud speaker, which it was.
It's unlikely to be a stocked part at the dealers (it wasn't with mine), so be prepared to take it in for them to diagnose a broken speaker, and then go back once they've ordered it to have it fitted. Alternatively, for around twenty/thirty pounds you can by a much nicer set of speakers off eBay… (there are a few threads on here of recommendations if you go down that road). Thanks for the replies, the thing that baffles me though is it's not just one speaker, if it was just one I could under stand but the whole front corners not working. The top tweeter and the bottom larger speaker are both dead silent? :S have to go to LR I reckon! 2009 Defender County Hard Top (gone 😞) 1990 200tdi defender off roader 2015 Defender XS Hard Top (awaiting delivery 😄) |

Just swap them around, this will tell you very quickly if it's the speakers.

If both speakers at the front are not working are they plugged in????
If the speakers are plugged in, are they plugged in at the radio???? If you are able to alter front/rear balance and L/R as well then each speaker should be individually wired to radio, BUT the plugs might be double ie: both rear speakers in 1 double plug, likewise front speakers. The front speaker plug might not be plugged into rear of radio. |
