Have you bought memory map?
There are a massive amount of options. GPS unit eg Garmin to which you can add memory map to or the manufacturer's software/mapping (which can also run os) Laptop/Netobook Again then get some GPS dongle and install memory map on it In car PC Treat as laptop I-Phone/I-Pad Use a variety of software Mike |

I have an Adventurer 2800 with the whole of the UK @ 1/25000 as new, I would sell as I now use an iPad.

Memory Map works on I-pads they have 2 apps - Free and £19.99 The £19.99 one is for those who own maps as you can sync with your PC and the free one is for those who want to buy the maps direct for the ipad And for the I-Phone...but then your I-Pad is going to be £600+ Mike |

I'm pretty sure that MM isnt ready yet for Android, but they are working on it. If you wait, and they release it fairly soon you could go for a cheap android tablet but just watch the GPS side of things. The GPS in the iphone for example is not especially reliable. The other thing to consider is a dedicated GPS with mapping like the active 10 from www.satmap.co.uk which is excellent ( I have one). It now comes with all the UK on it, so no messing around buying more maps for it. It's a robust unit, and the car mount is good too. It locks on to 6 satellites so the signal is always reliable. |

If you don't have or intend to get a laptop or desktop computer to run MM, I wouldn't get it - go for one of the integrated devices (like the adventurer 2800 or the sat map one). MM is awesome if you have a large screen and a computer to manage it. You should really see the mobile devices (iPad etc) as viewers or pre-selected maps. If you're not a computer wiz and don't want the hassel, get something with it all built in.
If you do have a computer to run MM, an in-car read and display device with built in GPS would be great. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |
