Do it a few times. Method 2 is what has worked for me in the past, but needs repeating unless you lose the "squelching" noise of air in the fuel system. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Another tip, though a little late is to fill the filter up with fuel and then fit!

Hmmm, seems it _might_ have been a bit low on fuel. . I knew it didn't have loads in, but never thought it would be that sensitive to low quantity. Still, 20 litres has solved my problem
