I heard on the radio this morning that Ineos are recruiting Automotive engineers with a view to building a 4x4 to fill the gap in the market left by the end of Defender production.

This is great news, especially if the rumours that new defender is likely to be built on a Discovery 3 chassis are true!

There's a lot more to a Defender than just being a 4X4.

If you'd read any of the articles you'd realise that the man in charge is a huge Defender fan and is more than aware of the Defender's qualities and unique charm. He intends to take the existing Defender and make it what it could have been if Land Rover had been bothered to address any of it's numerous problems.
If Land Rover's efforts are based on the discovery 3's heavy lumbering 5mm steel chassis with its inadequate suspension, I for one will not be impressed by that possible project at all. |
