Headlights work OK?
Probably be the stalk. As far as I remember, the puma has the same terrible design as defenders dating back to the stone age. |

Most likely its the internal switch.

Have they ever worked?
Latching main beam only comes on when ignition is on and dipped beam is on. |

Is your dim dip resistor disconnected? Yay or neigh if they were working before but suddenly stopped it won't be this.
It maybe be though if you've just fitted LED's? It could be the main beam stalk, does it physically latch in place but still not work? If so it maybe the contacts, physical check by viewing contacts and testing would be the way forward. If you wanted to just skip this you can replace the main beam stalk anyway, they are not overly expensive to buy. But may still not be the culprit. I cannot see you needing to actually fit resistors as I've not heard of anyone having those issues. If everything was working and now isn't there is obviously an issue that has occurred but not one that was present previously. As already mentioned you do need dipped beam turned on, on the main light switch before the main beam stalk will latch. If it seems only on sidelights then it won't latch. This enables you to flash headlights even without and lights on. Both switches could do with checking, both can cause issues. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Forgot to say, there is also the Relay.
It may not be latching as it should. Unfortunately I don't know the location though off the top of my head, if the stalk physically latches in place and the main beam still doesn't work this is also a possibly culprit. Hopefully someone can supply a location of it and wiring diagram. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
