What model and what discount is he expecting?
I did this exercise earlier in the year and discount is possible (more on physical stock) but is very model dependent. For instance, getting anything of significance off the RR Hybrid was more of a challenge than the standard diesel. |

Hello
The version and specification he has chosen totals just over £82000 Ideally he would like to pay £75000 maybe thats asking too much but in my book if you don't ask you don't get. So far Wow cars offered around £6000 but we are not completely sure this is based on a 2017 model, Broadspeed around £4000. He has not been to his local garage for a price yet until he see's what's out there as previously they don't 'do' discounts, in the leafy part of Cheshire these cars are evry yummy mummys daily transport and I guess people just pay the asking price |

He's aiming for nearly 10% which may be a big ask at this time of year; however, he may get lucky if he finds his ideal spec in stock.
The cars I had the best luck with were middle spec cars - ie. not base engine, not top of the range (Hybrid). The reality seemed to be that they can sell entry level cars all day long because there are plenty of aspirational buyers. Top of the range: Hybrid and Autobiography, SVR, were SVO vehicles and made in smaller numbers, sold by people who were more interested in getting the car they wanted than saving a few pence. Hence, cars that fell into the middle were least desirable and more discounted. Winter plays against him because this is the worst time of year to buy an SUV because they will be in demand - only worse time would be if it had snowed (and I'm not saying that in jest). As you said, don't ask don't get. I managed the discount he wanted on one car and 2.5% on one at the top of the model range. Buying two probably helped but I am quite sure I could have achieved the same with only one purchase. For reference, these were bought via a main dealer but in the Spring. My advice would be for him to: confirm exactly what he has to have (options and engines) and interior and exterior colour (ideally he won't just want one colour!) and then call five to ten LR dealers. See if they have anything in stock that is suitable and then make it clear that he will be making a decision to buy next week (set a date) from whomever offers him his ideal car at the best price. |

^ Pretty sure this will have to be a built to order car
Since he's been looking on one has turned up on the sale site in anything like the same spec. He's added some options that may be quite individual? also the colour White with cream, full sliding roof, air cooled seats, heated wheel, light head lining. His current choice is this, as his current one is Blue (bit the don't make the colour any more it's like a metalic) and he love the light interior. Most are black inside or dark which he does not like. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

^ There is always, not matter what car we have as a family (Merc, BM's Audi, Mini) one man on the inter-web that has a problem with what ever car we are looking at.
Think a warranty on a new one should cover it anyway and his current one he's had NO issues with regularly doing trips to Europe.. |
