Question re Boomslang loom upgrade.
Hi,
I have black plastic headlamp bowls behind the headlamps - I assume that's perfectly normal(?)
The bowl has a small grommeted hole in it for the cable to pass through.
The wiring to the existing bulb connector is removable at the connector so it's easy to pass the wiring through the hole before refitting the connector and attaching it to the bulb.
It doesn't look like the wiring is removeable from the Boomslang connectors so my question is how do you get it through the side of the bowl?
Do you cut a larger hole in it or is there some way that I can't see to remove the wiring from the Boomslang bulb connectors before refitting once through the existing hole?
Maybe I'm just being silly here and I'm not understanding it correctly but right now it's got me confused Smile Cheers,
Andy...

I have had the same thoughts too, contemplated fitting one but I'm going to go down the LED route instead.
Then there is no need for a loom anyway. No Guts, No Glory.

Enlarge the hole is the easiest way. New grommets to match available in plenty of places but not strictly necessary.

The power supplies in the LED lamps will deal with the voltage drop yes, but the lamps are still running at 30W+ each, so the switch will still burn out over time. Possibly sooner if the power supplies have a high inrush current.

Unless of course they are permanently fed and have a switched feed going to them anyway?

Thanks for the replies.
I'll enlarge the hole - might look out for some kind of glanded grommet type thing while I'm at it.
Does seem a bit of a bodge though when the loom kit itself looks pretty good quality. Cheers,

Slightly OT. I have a spare loom I have been meaning to sell if anyone is interested.

Don’t enlarge the hole.
Do this, push the yellow plastic sleeve off the ceramic connectors on the Boomslang then from the front of the connector insert a very small screwdriver or similar and press down on the little tag on the brass lucars while at the same time gently pulling on the wire the brass connectors will pop out. Remove the ceramic connector and its yellow sleeve. Then feed the three connectors through the hole replace each brass connector into the ceramic holder they will stay in place due to the little tag each has replace sleeve back job done.

If you look here Shaggdog walks you through removing the connectors and fitting the Boomslang to the plastic bowl with lots of pictures

Superb!
Thumbs Up
Thank goodness I was tied up with other stuff this afternoon or the holes would certainly have been enlarged!
Thanks so much for the reply and the link Smile Cheers,
