Swapping back door bolts for stainless.
Over the Christmas period I've a few jobs planned in between eating lots of food and watching bond films...

One I thought I could do is change my rear door bolts for stainless, is this an easy..ish job?

Any guides? I looked on you tube could not find anything.

Thanks

Did mine on my 23 year old and what a transformation. I did it one bolt at a time and as far as I recall the top two hinges were easy, but the bottom hinge nuts are in the wheel arch and were corroded.

Mine are a bit rusty already and I would like them looking nice that's all as in the above picture.

Not as rusty as those but no other reason other than looks.

I did the cross member bolts and they look much better.

As an option you could replace with OE ones as I did on my 110 that I wanted to keep looking original . . . . . . .

Nakatanenga has been successfully selling stainless bolts for a large number of years. I will have to find out exactly how long. No issue with the bolts if the supplied paste is used.

The door bolts are made in the original LR head in stainless specifically for Nakatanenga. These are NOT off the shelf standard bolts and more then a few hundred at a time are ordered!

Well, just heard back from Nakatanenga and they have been supplying their bolt kits for over 8 years now without issue as long as the paste supplied is used

We have sold hundreds of these kits in the U.K. I do not know how many kits Nakatanenga have sold but must be in the 000's

The kits are checked by weight to ensure they are correct. We have had the odd bolt with a misformed head but we quickly supplied a replacement.

The Nakatanenga kits are the most comprehensive ones in the U.K. and are the only ones with the correct paste to prevent galling.

I replaced all the hinges on my 90 with stainless steel ones from YRM. It's not that hard to do, but it's easier to do this with someone (at least to tighten the bolts).

Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
