I wouldn't go drilled again, I had those on the 306 and I did end up having a cracked front disc. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

ok I did a little bit more today, a revamp rather than an upgrade. I was hoping to have my aux belt and tensioner sorted out, but the tensioner never came. So I moved onto the revamp
My number plate light had seen better days when I changed over the screw last week. the old unit, which had been leaking, and it was cracked plus rotten. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge got the replacement unit Click image to enlarge installed with new screws Click image to enlarge my stainless screw installed Click image to enlarge much more tidier now My DE cat pipe is here too, but before I go anywhere near that one, I am to find out where the hell I put my exhaust hangers. Also my dad had been given the wrong hand brake shoe kit. So I have bought him the proper kit for his, with it been a 200 Tdi its got a earlier setup. well yesterday and just now there, I have finished off a nice little repair and a upgrade plus a part service too.
Anyway a few weeks ago, I noticed a clicking noise at high speed, but wasn't really noticeable when on tick over or when you give the engine some beans at stand still. After a bit of research and a feel about, I found that the main aux belt tensioner bearing was starting to fail. With the mount of mileage I do a week it was going to get worse and it would have just caused some nasty trouble in the end, So with the mot nightmare behind me, and some budget clawed back. I decided to buy a replacement belt and aux tensioner. I had to wait for the tensioner to arrive other wise id have fitted it last week. So tensioner and belt, both the same make, ( I will post up the belt size I used in the TDI section for anyone going to do this job) Click image to enlarge so off came the old belt and tensioner Click image to enlarge old verse new Click image to enlarge The bearings had really failed on it as it was very dry and had slight play, never got around to taking a photo of the fitted items as I forgot but again you know what it looks like, I did mark up the pulleys and a quick look back on line at a photo just to double check. All went on really, really well. One of the most easiest belt changes I have done I have to say! Anyway moving on, one thing that really did bug the life out of me. when I bought her was this bodged repair, Click image to enlarge The cable tie isn't holding on anything at all So after a bit of research on how to restore the air bracket, I managed to find the parts and ordered them so that I can have a secure air box again and a better looking engine bay. I had to remove the air box out of the way a little so I could get access, I thought it was really going to be a pain in the arse job due to the location of nuts holding on to the little rubber stands. all went well though as you can see. Click image to enlarge new brackets and rubber stands installed and air box secured and installed back into place. (looking more better already) Click image to enlarge Also with her been such a sweet heart for been behaving her self I decided to have a look at the air filter side of things. mind it had really saw better days. So a nice Replacement ITG filter was installed. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge So that's the air box sorted out. I did notice that the EGR valve blanking plate had blown the gasket, so whipped that off and the gasket had just dropped to bits. just cleaned that off and sealed it back on with exhaust paste. Then had a tick over to make sure all was working well, with the belt system. Then out for a test drive, my good god, she really was a live! Not sure if it was the EGR gasket repair or the New ITG filter or both, She was well powering on! surprised me I had the window down and I tell you what you could hear her growl and the turbo spooling with that ITG filter on! I have one fitted to the 306 and it loves it, and I did notice a little bit more grunt. So looks like its the same with the TDI, ( I am not talking sports car power but just a little bit more perky) Anyway moving on todays little upgrade. This Click image to enlarge This thing had really saw better days, and was on the verge of just dropping off, another thing that really needed replacing. I did really pace up and down on what to replace it with vent wise, a few choices out there. I ended up having a peak of a XS spec on Google and I thought yeah! My dad said go for a bit of sliver for that touch of class, plus it will go with the front grill. So I did. Click image to enlarge so popped it off, but some of the suds were broken so I just popped through and binned them. Click image to enlarge new vent installed Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Looks well neat if you ask me! Looking at the next stage now, I do have the gearbox mounts to fit, but I will have to wait on that one, until our terr is back in the house, after his clutch replacement. I might have a look at brakes, and push for a service with the 306. But I do want to have a rear bumper on her, but again its 400 quid, so I need to claw back extra budget. yeah I have found that one out too L110CDL, I did run a K&N one in the 306, and ran that for a while. Then switched to an ITG one when I bought one for the Rover metro.
Since then I just stuck with the ITG, found the HDI liked the ITG one better for some reason. Not to sure how well the 300 will like it but she is a little more lively now. Be better when I sort out that CAT. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

yeah I am starting to move forwards now, instead of standing about. Looks like I may need new door hinges, my doors have dropped so that will explain my little reservoirs in my floor pans when it rains. So I may just replace the door cards to black when I change those. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Id have to research before I dive straight in, to prevent any nightmares, I will look at those finger traps too just while I am at it. Then I can start rolling out some interior changes and upgrades, I do have a nice rapter bincle that I won at a auction, that I wouldn't mind fitting, but I don't think its got the parts with it, so I will have to speak to the rapter themselves on that.
