your right about that, I have found out what size pulley I have on the alternator so I maybe able to figure out what size belt I will need. Gearbox mounts will be sorted out when my dad gets our terr back on his wheels, ( he has ordered off a proper jack for the gear box) Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Hello Procta, from Aussie.
Love your Defender, Love your work, except, like I've said before,,...... that Bullbar!!....Lol!! Anyway, V8 Supercars is on this W.E. from Townsville,...hope you'll be watching. The new TTV6 engine was tested by 888 this week, but won't be used in racing until next year, and even then, not on a regular basis. Regards, Pickles. |

your right, the little jobs like this really make the difference. When I get in I will look up the pulley for the aux belt and the correct size belt too. so I can get that ordered off. I may look at a replacement side vent too for the air box, I do want to get the landy water tight too. So many options to choose from Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

yeah the bull bar is hit and miss for people, to me it makes cheeky think again before they pull out at the last moment I have the 5mm bumper on too so the front end is pretty beefed up now I need to grab a race on youtube! Only thing when they start messing about with engines like that, it does upset the champion ship. The btcc did that when they switched to turbo from NA, they said we will balance the two, by the time we were into the 4th round, Turbo powered cars were already advanced forwards so it became a turbo powered champion ship, which was given to Honda on a plate. They did the same thing again with the NTGC switch from S2000, they stated that an NTGC car was cheaper to build, which turned out to be incorrect, One team blew the whistle after it nearly bankrupted them. Wtcc had the right idea, they said you can keep the NA 2 litre but don't expect to be at the front end of the grid. That was when they introduced 1.6 turbo, there were only a handful if that of NA powered cars, by the end of the season everyone was running the 1.6 engines. I do wonder if 888 were something to do with the English team, at some point before it was split off. 888 still deal with Vauxhall/opel? The UK team did before they went MG. "888"?..Roland Dane who heads up 888 in Aussie is an Englishman, so I'd say there is definitely a connection. Parity/..V6TT Vs V8?..will definitely be an issue,..just have to see how it goes,...most of us would prefer to remain with V8, but as no Aussie made V8 vehicles will be manufactured in Aussie from October this year when Commodore finishes production, manufacturers will be looking to a "current" engine to retain some relevance to what's available in the showroom,...not that there'd be much in common with the TTV6 race engine and the V6 in any passenger car. Btcc hasn't really got any true manufacture built cars now, like it did back in the 90s to the early 00s. All constructor based now practically, we do get manufactures but they are not like what you have, they only pay the entry fee for the team and a little bit of support engine wise, even then that depends on how much money they invested in the team. The team may run a toca engine if there isn't a manufacture engine for the car. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

A bit of "thread stealing"here!
Not much manufacture relevance with respect to road engines in Aus either! The Commodore runs a 670HP 5L V8 made up from GM components, but nothing in common with the roadgoing 6.2L LS3 or S.C. LSA in the road cars. Same with the Falcon,...it runs a 5L V8 made from Ford "components", the Nissan runs a 5L V8, based on a 5.7L Nissan Patrol 4wd engine, & we did have an AMG Mercedes running with a 5L AMG engine, but it was never really competitive! We did have Infiniti in 2 years ago but they pulled out with in the 3rd round due to some disagreements, One of the drivers didn't even know he was getting replaced until someone told him about it on face book.
The best car really in btcc is Bmw at the moment, before then it was always Honda, but that was due to the fact they had a biggest budget, support and engineers. Subaru was coming a long strong last year, until they were penalized for an advantage this year. Don't worry about thread stealing, its car gossip Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

We are getting the G-mack, and I am starting to get more of a feel and direction that I want to go. Massive weight off my shoulders now since the MOT is out of the way. I did try and keep my spending to a minimum so that I had room for the mot, but sadly lost 350, which could have seen it have new brakes and a service too, or even a rear bumper.
