So looks like its a date with the welder there, I will pick her up tomorrow, and I will have a chat what the story is with the chassis. I am suspecting that it could have been just passed last year to be sold on.
brakes I am surprised it went through, the exhaust bracket at the rear I know about, which I suspected it would fail on, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

we are looking at 350 to weld her, Front bumper has to come off for the front end part, the rear section where its failed on needs a fabricating sadly. exhaust hanger the one that goes on to the rear cross member, needs one welding on. I did speak about getting a replacement cross member but that would require some work to do. Would really be best to fit a galv chassis if that was the story.
She is booked in for the week after bank hol, so we can get her sorted out and push forwards. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

That's a real shame.. at least you can do the advisories at you leisure and the fail list wasn't too long.
Good luck with the repairs. 1993 200Tdi Defender 90 |

yeah we can work through those anyway, with out any trouble as such, Gearbox mounts are next, mine are shot so that will be one less to worry about.
My mum has talked about lending me a few quid towards a new front bumper, but I will wait and see on that one. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

well got my replacement brackets for the exhaust on order, so fingers crossed those come tomorrow or Saturday, and that's it she goes in for a week or so for welding. Then we will see where we go from there, got some plans I want to do, But which one 1st, do I go back door, or brake upgrade , gearbox mount replacment and a service? Important stuff first, cosmetics after. I would do the mounts and service then the brake upgrade with the rear door as a lower priority unless it's now falling off and being held on with black nasty and green string. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Yeah, I agree with the above, did they specify which which bits you need to rectify to pass? 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

kit, it was these three
Rear Exhaust system not adequately supported (7.1.1) Nearside Rear Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings top and inner of chassis (6.1.B.2) Offside Front Vehicle structure has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.B.2) the brackets are on their way for the exhaust, I will have to strip the front down a little for the welding access. Looks like the brackets for the gearbox are next on the cards then mash. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

it's worth doing the safety bits first (MOT fails) then it's a rolling project, with that atleast you can enjoy her whilst you save for the next upgrade, too many people poor cash into wagons on cosmetics only to neglect the important bits i.e. Drivetrain/chassis etc. This leave the project parked up and they lose interest, lets not let that happen eh 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

sad thing is mash, she is my daily, I have had to revert back to my old daily until she is fixed . Another thing that's biting me, is the doe, This time last year I had over time coming out my arse! Now its basic flat rate now with very little over time so things are a slow pace now cosmetics wise. I have to try and claw back the cash that I have lost with the fuel side of things, and the insurances last month was well expensive! Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Work I'm sure will pick up and you can buy the shinny bits again unfortunately I never get "overtime" but I try to allocate enough cash each month to buy my bits. I can relate to insurance with multiple toys to insure 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Work will pick up but it could be next year, at the moment Nissan launching two new cars, new Leaf and the new juke, ( contracts for that is still work in progress) Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

It's unfortunate when things have to be done while you have plans for improvements elsewhere.. like my wobbly wheel that needs sorting before anything else.. 1993 200Tdi Defender 90
