Is that the one that comes out the front of the vac advance or the rear next to the distributor connection? 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Sorry Charcoal, I forgot all about this,
Click image to enlarge as I thought it is the port pointing away from the distributor & there is nothing on the other one |

No problem, same setup as mine then. mine has a plastic box thing half way down the vacuum line that I believe is a vacuum delay, yours doesn't appear to have it though. Will try taking it out and see if anything improves. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Yes that little valve is to delay the vacuum advance when the throttle is snapped open,
I was told & also read in the link below they can give more trouble than they are worth so when I replaced the vac pipe I didnt fit it & put it somewhere safe, needless to say if haven't seen it since! http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/regulator.html is your not running right after the rolling road session? |

Interesting, will get rid of the valve also. The carburettors have been tuned well on the rolling road, the misfires and high idle turned out to be caused by something in the ignition system. I've replaced the distributor first as the old one is very warn and the rotor arm has a good few centimetres of play. then I had to swap them back because I had a loose piece of swarf in the new distributor which killed the ignition module. Finally got a new module and getting round to refitting the new distributor again. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon

Putting the new dizzy in seems to cure all problems except the misfires around 80mph. Not a problem though as I rarely need to go that speed. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon
