Looks great. Where did you source the pcb from Shax? I am in need of a slim line light as the cage I have in the back of the car hits the original.

I get my PCBs from Seeed Studio: https://www.seeedstudio.com/fusion_pcb.html
Their pricing is good, their service is good, the quality of the stuff that arrives is good. I've had stuff done in the UK by PCB Train and would only use them if I needed it within a few days. Otherwise if you go for the fast turn around you can get stuff from Seeed within a week-ten days and it's a whole lot cheaper than PCB Train. I used to use Easy PC to design them but now use RS Designspark which is the same but with different branding and it's free. If you then want to make a box for them you can export the PCB design in to the 3D cad package very easily too. |

Shax, if you are thinking of selling these, I would be interested, the high level break light is the only non LED light on my truck. Cheers Simon

Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but what about 'e' marking?
Currently it still applies. I know how annoying it is having all lights LED except one, used to be side repeaters on mine until they were produced. |

And that is unlikely to change in the future for you. Nothing to do with being in or out of EU. We also are not in EU, never were actually, but E marking is a must in Switzerland. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

It's not a bad thing but due to cost puts manufacturers off producing these items.
So in the end we go without unless it can be proven there is a definite demand. |

E marking...?? Hmmm... Now that's an interesting question..
So I currently have an E marked high level brake light, using a 21watt bulb, and it's been E marked with that 21watt bulb.. Now, I wander off to my local LED bulb reseller, and buy a 5watt LED cob light to replace said 21watt incandescent filament bulb.. The original E marking test is null and void... But no one bats an eyelid, because I am doing the "green" thing by using less watts of leccy! ALL the LED bulbs I have seen have no E mark on them.. The E mark is moulded on the red lens on the assembly I'll be butchering.. And lets face it, EVERYTHING is supposed to be CE marked too, which I now take to mean China Export!! I've also read on one of these very forum pages that the high level brake light is classed as an accessory, and not subject to E marking anyway! I'll not be reselling high level brake light led panels, but if people ask nicely I may sell them a bag of bits to build their own red high output panel, for use as a device to preserve ones ability to see in the dark, without losing ones Scotopia (noun: the ability of the eye to adjust for night vision - Collins) Oh, and they also come in white and UV... If I could source enough 905nm IR leds, it could also be used as a lidar jammer, but the Defender don't usually go fast enough to worry about that!!! ... ,-------, .. I [__][_]|__ .. I __ |"_|"__| .. The PCB's for the HLLBL turned up today... Just don't have the time today to solder one up!
But as promised, I'll drip feed the fotos as I take em! Click image to enlarge The panel uses 90 x 3mm ultrabright red LEDs, and are arranged in two banks of 45.. There is a reason for this, but that's hush hush for the time being! ... ,-------, .. I [__][_]|__ .. I __ |"_|"__| .. "(o)====(o)" ^^_-^-_^-^_^^^^^--^^^^ PAUL G7ALW 14.200 USB 26FB458 / 27.275 SSB |

Well, I finally soldered a panel up, and it looks pretty good... Just need to fit it into the current housing... But in the meantime, here are a couple more pix of the panel..
