United Kingdom 2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Corris Grey
Radio and USB Noise
My radio reception is poor at best and has a flexible antenna replaced by the previous owner. Its a 2007 Puma and if I pug any power device into the cigarette lighter I just get hiss. Lower power devices hiss with some sound.

Is there something badly wrong or do I just need a suppressor? It has the original land rover stereo.

Thanks

Adam

The noise may be exaggerated by not having a good signal to start with. That's the problem I had with a previous vehicle.
I did read on Amazon that some makes of lighter to USB psu's can cause interference so its best to read the reviews.
I went for an "Anker" make but this didn't make good connection with the socket so had to swap it. Mike

Had the same issue with a plugin usb adaptor I got from Amazon. Plug in, radio poor, plug out, radio normal. I did manage to buy another which is ok and doesn't cause any noise. But selection is hit and miss. As a rule of thumb, the smaller adaptors and el-cheapo cigarette lighter chargers seem to be the worse. Probably due to a lack of suppression?

I have the same but with a Blue Sea USB socket. Cheaper Ebay dual USB ones that go into a cigarette socket are fine. 1999 Defender TD5 110
