If I remember correctly, the hub steering arms travel through a very small arc due to the camber on the kingpins, hence the need for a ball joint rather than a clevis fork and pin. I can see no reason why the ends would be fitted in twist other than the normal high quality Defender production tolerances......

You will have changed the length as both side the different threads LH an RH. This way you don't need to take it off completely to adjust the length. I think however that the maybe 1/4 turn you made doesn't make a difference and is way within the LR tolerances. ![]() 1984 90 2.5 na Diesel - RR V8 (1994-2001) 1997 Camel Trophy Discovery 300TDI (2001-2009) 2005 G4 Discovery III 4.4 V8 (2008-2018) It's gone but it still hurts. 2003 90 Td5 (2009-now) |

I haven't changed the length.
Maybe my post want clear? I'm aware it works like a turnbuckle, hence talking about 'balancing the change' ![]() It's less than 22.5deg, so barely 1/16th of the thread pitch, that is if I didn't balance the change over each end ![]() It's the same as aligning ends, then turning the rod to get back to the original length, just described a bit clumsily. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |
