Fire extinguisher mount points - share yours thnx!
Got myself a little 1kg extinguisher with mount.

Whereabouts do you mount yours?

Roll cages, dog cages etc. are helpful but I'm especially interested in places close enough to be of immediate use to the driver in a standard spec 110 puma.

But hey, interested to see whatever you've got. It'll be helpful for others eventually right?

Front of the seatbox, passenger side. Easily accessible, yet not in anyone's way.

I did spot that yes, but I heard (possibly incorrectly?) that vertical is better though? And in that case in the footwell to the passengers left (RHD), mine snugs in near the door, sitting with its bot on the floor.

In terms of horizontal I also spotted right on the cubbybox just above the cup holders (that I never use for anything higher than the size of the holder). It's right there in terms of access and it does leave the gear lever free but maybe it'll get caught up in clothes etc. ?

Back of the cubbybox also, vertical between a centrally seated persons legs? But then that might restrict using the centre seat footwell as a loadspace...

Headliner ? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

The military mount a 2kg dry powder against the bulkhead between the two front seats, best pic I have but I'm sure you can find a better one on the web.

Given the relative futility of a 1kg extinguisher for a vehicle fire, I'm not sure I'd bother trying to make it handy for the driver.

In my old 110, I mounted an extinguisher on the rear door with the idea that it'd be handy for when camping. I made a bracket to replace the grab handle:

Please be aware that if you are using/mounting a powder extinguisher in your LR, then periodically take it out and give it a shake. The powder settles and becomes a big blob of compacted powder and utterly useless 110 D250 SE HT

Question

Wouldn't driving shake it anyway ? At least more than one sitting around in your house for instance... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

I mounted mine on the rear door.
Not handy from the drivers seat, but is easily accessible even with the vehicle fully loaded.
I used some scrap 2mm ali plate to reinforce the door card.
Been fitted for over 3 years...

Used that blog for a number of other mods, but never saw the extinguisher one Question

Because the powder is so fine, the driving causes vibrations which settles the powder into a clump at the bottom of the cylinder. 110 D250 SE HT

I have a 2kg one mounted where the small windows go at the back on a station wagon. The hardtop doesn't have the windows so it's a convenient space that's easily accessible from the rear door.

I've put a bit of Velcro round it so in the event of a crash it doesn't fly off and hit me in the back of the head.

This is where I have mine on my 90 and yes, I do take it out regularly and give it a shake.
