My first warning light, is this my welcome to ownership :)
Hello


Drove in this morning at a steady 60mph, as everything zooms past I notice a light flash up on my dashboard.

Its a picture of an engine. I Guess the engine management light.

My handbook is at home, so cannot look up what this means.

Any indication what this could be, Its a 2.4 model.

Just needs reading on Diagnostics.

Don't worry too much, as they can throw a wobbly sometimes and mean nothing!

I would buy a cheap code reader so you can check yourself, rather than paying a garage to do it for you. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

If you start and fully restart the engine 6-10 times it will reset. if your 2.4 hasn't had an EGR replaced it may be an early sign of an imminent failure. I just had mine changed at 36,000 miles and the old one degraded so slowly i forgot how good it should run. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

^ That sounds promising, the start and stop routine. Although I wonder why it came on?

Mine on 62K no idea if that valve has been changed or not, any idea on cost?

Its got a After Market warranty so do I take it in now, or just stop start and hope it resets?

At that mileage it has probably had at least one and possibly a clean and refit. A hard reset (+ve cable off) would probably put the EML out if the stop/start doesn't.
Your engine will run much sweeter with a new one. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

How much are they?

I've not driven another so cannot compare it with one, it seems to drive fine to be honest?

Coming from a normal automatic car its more my poor gear change etc that makes the ride fun Smile

I'm getting used to that though Smile

I will walk over to it in the carpark at lunch,

When it came on it stayed on.

I did turn it off when here and then on in the 'hope' it would go out... But it didn't

Will see if its on when I go out soon,

Still on and I started / stopped the car and moved forward and back half a dozen times in a hope it would go off.. Sad

Did you stop/start from key position "0" to start many times? Just flicking back and forward will not reset EML. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

It may reset after a few driving cycles. Invest in a Fault Code Reader and/or call Land Rover assist if you are under warranty? If not the reader will pay for itself first time you use it in a situation such as this. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Do a search using keywords such as Ultragauge, Scangauge, Fault code reader. It plugs in to the OBDII socket under the panel below the steering wheel by your right knee and will give you real time readouts of several parameters not shown on the dashboard and the ability to read and clear fault codes. Very easy to use. Please do not ask what an OBDII socket is. Laughing Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
