A VAT invoice will be required in order to reclaim any VAT, depending on the type of VAT registration (standard or Flat rate) the rules are pretty complicated as to whether the entire VAT can be reclaimed.

Dasher - you say 100% business use and the vehicle is company owned. Presumably you are not reporting a van benefit and paying tax for any private use. It's not impossible but quite difficult in practice to achieve this. HMRC require the van to be incapable for your private use, this would require a contractual Clause for the vehicle not to be privately used in your employment contract and for the facts to back this up. If the vehicle is kept on business premises and you commute to and from there in a private vehicle you should be ok, but you may struggle if it's essentially Kept as your personal vehicle. Availability and not use is the driving factor for whether a benefit is applied and it is the company responsibility to report this and not HMRC to discover it. Tricky area!
