If it's automotive hand tools you want I'd recommend buying second hand snap on tools off eBay as they still have the lifetime guarantee Ray

Varies depending on what you're looking for! I've been raised on a diet of Snap-On, as my dad has been a mechanic all his life, so I can't stand using low quality tools!
That said, I won't stomach the price of Snap-On stuff, and even he tends to look to other brands these days. SGS Engineering have a good rep for jacks, hoists, axle stands. Wera for screwdrivers & ratchets. Halfords professional do lifetime warranty, I have several socket sets and spanners from them. All good. Sealey do some very very good value impact sockets. |

Most the brands stocked at http://www.tbs-aachen.de seem high quality to me. A bit closer to you too... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Halfords advanced trolley jack is excellent quality.

Beta Tools for spanners and sockets etc
Sealey/Draper for engine crane, stand, and trolley jack and led lamps Halfords for Axle stands Sykes Pickavant for specialist tools eg. pullers |

Old snap on stuff is wayyyyy better quality then as of today,
I was quite dissapointed the last new spanner I purchased, So in general I by looked after used stuff, For strange sizes I may not use every day I also use the Halfords range, especially if you have a trade card, or keep an eye online or in shops as they quite often have a sale on  |

I'll third Teng, nice ratchets and sockets that don't break the bank, feel very well made and appear to last!
Can anyone recommend a decent reasonably priced battery impact driver? I use bosch and makita in work, but I'm not fully convinced by their longevity. |

Teng are ok, poor guarantee means I wont buy again.
Gedore have been a favorite through the years, but they are premium priced. I have some Wurth screw drivers that I really like. I still have the Kamaza tool set I bought with my first wages when working in an farm engineershop as the weekend help 30 years ago. I have cheap chinese branded tools that have lasted too (suprising similiar to Teng actually) Otherwise Knipex, Bahco and Sandvik (part of the bahco) group work. I tend to buy Craftsman tools when in the states, they have a good guarantee.  don't know what you mean by this cold_n_wet I have a local supplier at home that couldn't be more helpful, always beats and deals by other companies and out of the few tools I have broken they have swapped my broken one instantly or ordered in the item straight away, they have even broken up a set just so I could have one item.
I have a large mix of Teng / blue point /snap on etc and even some old crow foot stamped tools, I use these tools everyday and often in harsh conditions and they have all preformed very well, that being said I have some cheap non branded ratchets 1/4,3/8,1/2 that have extending handles, I have abused these rotten and they are still fine. Cordless rattle guns I have a 1/2 ingersol rand it is a beast of a gun, it puts various other guns my mates own to shame, it can easily do a set of leaf springs on our trucks: wheels off, springs off,all back together each nut is approx 650nm on the ubolts.
