Just ordered a V2 kit for our 110.

Can anyone recommend a suitable rivet gun?

Don't want to buy a random tool off of Amazon and have it break.

I've got the V2 kit, you won't be disappointed.
I didn't have a mother of all rivet guns either, so fitted it with decent self tappers and loctite.
Working well so far with no issues. Also has the benefit of keeping the drilled holes smaller, thereby giving the option of enlarging at a later date if needed. Instagram: L90andy

MOARG. Now I really want one Rolling with laughter

Self tapping screws are a good idea. will consider that instead of rivets

Likely to work loose imo unless you use loctite or similar at least. Chillin In The BackwoodsπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

The Nakaanenga web site says all fittings are stainless steel. I'm guessing that includes the rivets. EDIT: I just asked Nakatanega.

So MOARG or locktite ??

The brackets and lock nuts are stainless.

The body of the rivet will be aluminium. You would need to be rather strong to deform a stainless steel rivet. I do not know what material the rivet shaft is made off

Oh good. Then I don't need the MOARG.

SS pop rivets do exist. They need a hefty rivet gun.

For example:

Interesting. I know the rivets are harder then standard pop rivets to fix. Never thought that the rivet body would be stainless. Embarassed

Will be interesting to hear what Mr Nakatanenga says the rivet body material is.

You live and learn!

I installed the gas strut today.

Big improvement. I should have done this a year ago.

I used a Bahco 2681 rivet gun. It is a good quality tool but marginal for the rivets in the kit. I had to use groove joint pliers to get enough leverage to shear the rivet pin. I'm not sure if the tool would hold up to doing another four rivets.

If I had this to do again, I'd get a bigger rivet gun.

Other than that the install was an easy job.

Still tempted with one of these. I just have flashes of the kids opening the door and it self opening against a wall or car bonnet parked behind. Shocked James

I fitted one to my 2015 110 last year and never had any problems at all.
It's one of the best additions I've made, no more having to prop the door open or th door swinging back onto me.
It can be positioned/adjusted so that the spare wheel doesn't come into contact with the rear of the vehicle when open.
