How do I know? LOL It was there when I bought it. As it was a JLR dealer demo, I presume it's how they came?

Worry bearing in mind RMS power Vs. Peak power output.

RMS is the true continuous power, peak are often used as sales pitch and is for a power spike not continuous usage.
So a 500Wrms Sub should be powered by a 480 - 520Wrms Amp.

A 500w peak Amp with 250wrms would be underpowered.

Ideally both peak and WRMS should match identically or closely imho with a 10% and no more fluctuation between under and over wattage.

Hope that makes sense without being over complicated, I know myself when I've looked into it all that it can be a lot to get your head around.
Setting Amp frequency etc is another job, jist is if it sounds good how you've had it set up then don't fiddle with it.

Thanks Steve. Not hugely capable with numbers, to be honest, but certainly get your gist and am researching accordingly. As it happens, all the items I am after (or equivalents) come from the same Amazon supplier, so I'll send them a post, a budget and a request and see what 'package' they come up with.

But thanking you all, it's all be useful.

And to answer one of my own questions, from research (Google is great) I will need an Amp if I have the Sub as it is no active....all new to me, but getting there. Very Happy Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

With I.C.E. Sales it's often known for sellers to quote peak wattage to make their goods seem more powerful than they really are.
My 8" Solo Baric is 450w RMS 900w peak.
Sadly, my HU has issues at the moment abd I'm well out of date with my system so I can't really use it for now. Neutral

Kicker Hideway packs a good punch for a compact Hideway active unit @ 200wrms IIRC.

http://www.audiofile-incar.co.uk. They did a great job. I had a couple of small issues afterwards but they did their best to sort it out and even sent me replacement parts FOC to France. Had I lived in the UK it wouldn't have been an issue as I could have just taken the car back for them to sort it out, but that wasn't feasible living in the south of France of course.

I know they read the forum. Perhaps they should become sponsors? Whistle
