life span of shocks
Gents
Ethel the 110 has just clocked up 60K, and she's getting a bit crashy, bless her. am I right in thinking that it's new shockers time?

PS if so I'm going with Terrafirma, 'cause they're silver and black so will match the car !
Thanks

Changed mine at around 45k, bushes often before that.
That's ti get the best from them. Usability wise they would go on longer.

I used terrafirma on my previous 110. Whilst they transformed the ride the outers were covered in surface rust after 6 months. For that reason I would not buy again.

Changed my rears at 150k miles, fronts are still fine at 200k miles.

I'm on about the 8th set of rear lower bushes, though!

I put terrafirma shocks on mine, they were ok, but nothing special.
Swapped over to konis, what a difference.

At @80kkms my 2.4 110 was like a boat, the heat, loads pulled and carried and off road they where shot!😂 However koni heavy shocks, set up 35% front, 60% rear made it better than new. Bushes were almost like new. Handles better than new with 130 springs on the front. Big question too me is how long they last over oem! Bang for your buck so too speak! Very Happy Thumbs Up

Don't seem to have trouble with the upper bushes, I think I changed them once. It's the lower bushes that are spectacularly useless!

If you did 60k on your genuine shocks why don't you replace them with the same.

Actually I would think the shocks are still good and just some new bushes will help. At 60k also check your rear axle ball joint and A frame bushes. 1995 300tdi Defender 90 P/UP

Had to change my rear at 150.000 km and changed front at same time even they still worked well. Used Koni Heavy Track models which made no difference to genuine shocks in my opinion. In total € 400,--

When only the bushes fail you notice a "rumble".
