Not 100% sure at the moment but would appear the intermittent clatter I get when turning off does no happen if transfer box is in neutral - any thoughts (other than more therapy

I'll agree there's lots of noises generally from a Deafeners drive line but would dispute a clatter being normal when turning off.
![]() What sort of clatter Caterham? Is it the sound of loose metal bits banging together or something clutch wise or deep inside the engine..... ![]() AlanH. |

Pretty damn sure it's no engine. Had the clutch rattle and don't think it's that....I'm inclined to think it's transfer box or linkages?

Got the prescription ...chemist is shut
![]() Eric. Don't need to put it into neutral but trying understand where clatter and wobble is coming from so trying different things. ? oh and forgot to ask K9F - I presume the oil coming out the transfer box onto the handbrake drum is normal too ![]() |

Check the transfer box oil level and if that is ok may I respectfully suggest you strip the entire vehicle down into its many component parts and once you've done that skip the lot.

![]() well no idea if it's coincidence or not but ran beautifully this morning. there is one issue tho. I always leave cars in gear when parked up. can't get it back into gear (transfer box that is) after turning off. ? something else I noticed with engine off and main box in neutral if I move the lever to the left there's what seems to be a very slight metal to metal feeling, do it a second time it feels more like metal on nylon (more like you'd expect). no do it to the right the same initially feels like metal on metal but not on successive movements to the right. back to the left and same as above. could this metal on metal feeling be whats causing the clattering? I think knowing it CAN run beautifully is whats keeping me going ![]() |
