I don't know the answer, but will be watching intently, as I believe I have the same jobs to do on mine...

Hmm ... I've done quite a few searches and found nothing on that! Don't suppose you have a link?
I did fear that outcome, would just be nice to know difference! |

From my investigations the WJN500150 doesn't have the water trap sensor. It also appears to fit both Defender and Discovery TD5's.

It was called fuel filter head part number or something like that (don't know how to put a link up ) but it seems I remembered wrong anyway. Littletom who started the thread found out his td5 was fitted with a tdi head so that's why they were different.

The water sensor is part of the Filter itself, not sure the 'body'/'top' has any sensor kit on it. If the pictures are anything to believe, then even the later 'body' comes with the filter and water sensor in the bottom.
As I mentioned before, I think mine is past the point where they decided not to fit the sensor any more as mine certainly has no wiring for the sensor to plug into! Even on early TD5's, most people would just stick a new filter on without the sensor anyway as they would often cause more problems than they're worth and the only redundant wiring then is the loom from the vehicle. Nothing on the 'body'? Confusing! Can't see what difference there is as the change came after the EURO 3 update anyway! |

Easiest way is open the topic up, click into the URL bar at the top, ctrl+a, then ctrl+c, then come into the one you're replying to and in the reply box, just hit ctrl+v.
And yes, I have read that one then ... Found that very odd as head only had 1 in, 1 out! |

Right, just had a conversation with Justin at Brookwell's and I must say what a friendly chap.
Initially it went down the official lines of WJN500150/WJN000020, but after speaking with him, I questioned the fact they had WJN000030 listed as fitting Defender TD5 1998-2006, so the whole range effectively. He went off the speak to a colleague and rang me back about 10 minutes later. He confirmed that the 'head' of the housing's were all the same including WJN000020 - WJN500150 - WJN000030, the only difference being the water sensor ... Why this adds over £150 to the price tag I dont know. Thus I have ordered WJN000030 (the only one they stock) which is the Disco II filter assembly, but the same assembly throughout the TD5 Disco II production. I personally believe WJN000020 and WJN000030 are the same, second being the Disco II part number. The WJN500150 is the same head, same filter body, but different water sensor and plug. I will see what turns up and post my findings. Will also strip the new one down to check the valves and internals are the same! If I could afford to order the WJN500150 as well I would have, but after the past 3-4 months of very big bills for the 110, I'm just about wiped out, so I cant afford do do a comparison! Technically though, my old one should be WJN500150, so we shall see! |

Shoot me a PM with how much you'd want as I'd be very interested.
I have the WJN000030 coming anyway, but always good to have a spare and I want to try and work out what's what with them, so an ideal one to strip down and compare (hoping it's a WJN000020, so I can compare with the WJN000030 I have coming and the WJN500150 which theoretically should be the knackered one) |
