He's gonna have a few more grays by the time he's finished with that chassis . |

This is the new series and for some reason they are now in America As usual they did a couple of good jobs then cocked the whole lot up by sanding back the paint a bit and decided to leave it at that Ray

At one point Mike Brewer refers to the LR as a Jeep

You mean the cheeky leather jacketed cor blimey Cockerney chappy who never takes into account that in the real world labour charges alone would swallow up what profit they manage to make on each "mota"?
Seen one and you've seen them all. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Well, a chassis is a frame... and he is in America where they call it such, so why not?

Not sure if anyone else has covered this, but the Edd China replacement, Ant Anstead has now taken over on Wheeler Dealers on the new series.
I have watched a couple of programmes now. Tonight they are tackling a Saab. I liked Edd and was disappointed to see that he had left. I just wondered what others felt about Wheeler Dealers and specifically the new Guy? |

Well Ant came to my house a couple of years ago when he was first getting into a TV career.
I found him to be very much Mr TV Presenter. He lit up when the camera was on him and reverted to a much lower key when not. With my particular vehicle, a lot of the dirty work was done by somebody else, somewhere else. He had a completely different career before getting into cars and I didn't get the impression that he was a dirt behind the fingernails type, but I could be wrong. The ratings, of course, will be the ultimate judge.... |

Well, just watched the latest WD when they "do" the SAAB....
Must say, by half way I was bored, by 3/4 way through I thought I'd accidentally pressed the fast button on the SKY remote by virtue of the fact that suddenly they'd totally stripped it, resprayed it, rebuilt the external parts of the engine... all within a few words. I can see why Ed left the show.... oh, and Ant dropping in the odd US word like "motor" when talking about the engine, and "fenders" with wings.... he did manage to say "boot" though... bet that'll confuse the septics. Needless to say, I didnt make the end of the show... deleted it. sad way for the show to go. Last edited by diesel_jim on 25th Jan 2018 7:06pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I agree diesel_jim.
Edd had complained that the new production company had wanted to dumb down or minimise the amount of mech work carried out in each show. The Saab highlighted his concerns entirely. I don't particularly dislike Ant. I can also understand what slideywindows says that his performance seems a bit false and over acted where as Edd was more natural in the workshop. I have never been a great fan of Mike Brewer's segments. The buying and selling always seemed to be a farce. I just wanted to see the one episode where he went to the parts company, asked for discount and was told to off. If they could get Fuzz Townsend and Edd on a show on their own without Tim Shaw and Mike, and just highlighted the mucky bits without the silly buying selling and deal making, I would be more than happy. Discovery Channel please note. Thanks for the comments. It sort of summed up the way I felt. Just wondered if I was being bitter and twisted..... again |
