It looks close to me - judging by the amount of slip road left the RR must already be half onto the hard shoulder and as a driver you wouldn't do that unless there was a vehicle very close to you on the carriageway.
Its not as if the next RR ahead was close - it looks a long way ahead in that picture, so if the last RR had kept closer to the one in front he would have been well clear of the OP (note - I haven't seen the vid - just the last picture in the thread) |

I can understand you sentiments Gil as we have horses too ranging from New Forest ponies up to my Suffolk Punch heavies. Transporting them anywhere is always nerve wracking as you never quite know what the other guy is going to do, we no longer use a trailer for that reason as we find the lorry that much safer and has a more commanding presence on the road. That said it is quite amazing the number of people who overtake the truck when approaching a roundabout or something and then slam on their anchors totally oblivious that heavy braking while carrying livestock is a no no.
Gratuitous photo of daughter and one of our Suffolk heavies... Click image to enlarge Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

As someone who has towed livestock and horses in trailers and lorries, I agree people's driving is unbelievable sometimes, no appreciation for others.
Lovely to see a Suffolk Punch, amazing animals and so rare now As for the video, don't see anything hugely wrong but difficult to tell from video alone. More intrigued to who, what, where... very James Bond! I agree with some that the camera angle does seem to show there was more than 6 inches, BUT that's to do with camera positioning I think. Maybe adjust it slightly so that the bonnet (or some other object) is in view as a point of reference. Either way, 6inches or 6ft is NOT enough room.
I do around 80k a year at work and social driving and riding on top, so I also see this eveyday. It still doesn't make it right. As for it being a CP team their drills need work if the client was on board as not one of those vehicles were cocooned or in a protective bubble. They all just joined the motorway in a line. I can't see it being CP training, not in those cars...to new. Having done CP at home and abroad for years and being an ACPO advanced driver and motorcyclist I agree with the OP, Not the worst driving I've seen or done (😮) by far, but for what should probably be a 'professional convoy' it's very poor. Strong people are harder to kill and generally more useful! |

Agree with what a few have said already that I've seen worse, much worse and don't think this is really that bad at all...
One thing just to bear in mind is that we don't actually know what this is.... For all we know it's half a dozen mechanics taking a few Range Rovers to another of their dealerships...... |
