I've been using tyre dress products for a long time and have never had any experience of them damaging the tyres.

Tyre dressings... Experience says NO WAY!
They all leave a finish on the tyre apart from making it questionably look good, also does 3 things... 1: Attracts dirt to the tyre, especially dust 2: Throws the dressing onto the wheel... which then gets dirtier much quicker, brake dust especially 3: If you get any dressing onto the tread area, it makes the tyre contact patch in that area very slippery... (I have seen this on track days with guys who have dressed their tyres... then promptly spin out!) A good scrub with detergent works well IMHO... YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

By far the best tyre dressing!
http://www.altusautocare.com/product/gtechniq-t1-tyre-and-trim/ Can be layer to make it more glossy, lasts for weeks - even in winter - and doesn't sling up on to the bodywork either! A little goes a long way too which is even better! |

The brown stuff is the stuff that is actually keeping the rubber from deteriorating and it comes out and oxidizes. This is what we all try to hide with tyre black and as stated perhaps prevent from working,,, Im all for tyre black as it looks better and always lead to believe it prevents cracking (until now). AG tyre black only lasts a few days - i think CarPlan did a foam and always loved that. Not a fan of spray ones as the smallest amount of wind sends it all over the bodywork. |
