Referbing Tow Bar
My towbar is looking a bit sorry for itself and I have it all dismantled and ready for a bit of a refurb.

A lot of flaking rust and paint.

My thoughts are to wire brush it as best as possible and remove all the flaking rust and paint, use a rust converter on it, undercoat and then paint it.

I'm looking to make the finish as durable as possible.

Can anyone suggest a better/improved process than I have suggested and what sort of products give the most hardwearing finish.

not sure how durable it would be however use a drill attached metal cleaner/wire brush attachment to clean it up (Halfords/B&Q) then rust convertor / Hammerite spray for smooth finish.

You could look at one of the paints supplied by Buzzweld as they have some pretty durable paints that don't need undercoat/rust treaters and are very hardwearing.
