I thought that this was just one of those thing, some do it all the time , others don't and some do some of the time.
Mine will do it one day then has a break of 3 or 4 months , or it does it for a week and then has a break. I have spoken with main dealers and Independent garages they all know about it, do not know what causes it or how it can be stopped. Don't make old people mad. We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

2.2 is known for this but not the 2.4.
It is indeed possible that the clutch pedal switch is the culprit, and it is at least quite easy to test. |

In fact ours are developinng the opposite. Some times when the gear change, revs goes up for 1 sec and then drops...

I have the same problem and also no solution from the people who should know. Iam going to try changing both clutch and brake switches when they turn up. Have thought this could be linked to the anti stall system??

My 2.2 has done this from new (year old nearly). Does it everyday mainly between 3rd and 4th. I've just learnt to live with it.

Check the pressure sensor on top of the clutch master cylinder. I know (well, 'heard') that when the clutch is depressed it sends a signal to the ECU to reduce RPM... Could be something there

I had a faulty clutch switch on my 2.4 Puma. The ECU thought that the clutch was constantly depressed and therefore wouldn't allow the revs to exceed 3000rpm. It didn't maintain the engine speed the way you're describing though.
Incidently, I found that the switch for the Puma and for the TD5 are opposite throw (one is normally open going closed, the other is normally closed going open), so make sure you have the right one. |
