I use a Stoplock steering lock (which is 18 years old now!!) in my Defender as part of the layered approach to security. I somehow managed to loose one of the keys over the weekend and lucky for me I had the car parked outside my house so I could get my spare key from the safe.
Searching the interweb was no help at all as only their suppliers were highlighted and every one I called (local locksmith, Halfords etc) could not help me to source a replacement key. By chance I came accross the company that manages the brand, Saxon, and from them they gave me a company in London called Market Lock and Safe, tel:020 7536 3131. I have now ordered 2 key for the princely sum of £13.40 which should arrive this week. Better than paying £50 for a new lock. Hopefully this will end well!!! Cheers Don. |

Update: Good news, 2 keys arrived in the post this morning and they both work on my old StopLock!!
They are a little "stiff" but I am sure they will wear in! Market Lock and Safe Ltd Unit 7 Hillstone Court Empson Street Bow London E3 3LT 0207 536 3131 £13.40 for 2 keys. Just give them the key number and they will turn up in the post a couple of days later! Well pleased. Cheers Don. |

However,I'm 100% happy that you are using such security, coz it means thieves are 100% likely to avoid mine

As above, if it's one of the old-school 'crook locks', you might like to invest in something a bit more substantial.
I'm one for as many visual detergents as possible, however, I don't think this is considered a deterrent (more a slight hindrance. I have broken into one of these in sub3 seconds for reference. You can get some pretty impressive devices these days, you'd be better off investing down that road personally. As always, if they really really really want to steal your car, they will! I use this device as part of a layered approach, including a 'ardcase peddel lock and other hidden items, so yes it is old a device and hopefully will delay someone trying to nick it. So please read the first post and smell the coffee. Cheers Don.

I Use this on my Defender,
Thatcham Vehicle Security-Category 3 Approved ![]() Click image to enlarge I look at it in if I'm using this and a Defender up the road isn't then they will choose the other. Has to help? Even the 3 seconds you said you can get in that one above, its still time and noisy I guess? |

I've thought if your a low life easier to take the wheel off...
Its only one big nut but then you would need to walk round with a spare wheel... I still think its something better than nothing. If they want it they will have it. I don't want to make it so every time I jump in there are all manor of switches and locks to take off. I May regret this one day but that's what I use (for now) as I do have another device waiting for me to fit but I need a sim card.. |

As I said above, i'm all for a layered approach myself. Other than getting in the car, the actual 3 seconds to remove the lock has no noise what-so-ever (it's the turn of a special key) |
