The hydraulic clutch fluid reservoir is bone dry, so a chance the system ran dry and now isn't enough pressure to engage, or when the car stalled it split/popped something and it's drained
I've been underneath and can't see any fresh fluid however |

LR assist is your friend....master or slave cylinder or pipe in between.

What's that and if you mean the Land Rover breakdown, it won't cover my 2008 defender will it? |

As has been said master or slave cylinder or the pipework has leaked somewhere, you may get a bit of pedal back by refilling with appropriate fluid and bleeding but it will only be a temporary fix until the fault is rectified.
If it's the slave it's a gearbox out job i'm afraid and best replace the master while you are at it too. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Best we can work out is the slave cylinder has gone.
Going to get it flat bedded somewhere to be fixed. Any ideas what I can expect the bill to be? Thanks |

I paid £940 for a new slave and clutch kit using genuine LR parts. Deduct about £300 from that if you don't want to change the clutch. My blog - www.anacreinhampshire.blogspot.co.uk

To wrap this up, I took the car to Safari engineering (defender specialist) and collected it yesterday.
The previous owner replaced the clutch with a upgraded 2.2 clutch last year but installed a aftermarket slave cylinder that according to safari was a much weaker part. Because of this it was the weakest link and went. Clutch was fine, so gearbox out to replace the slave with a genuine LR part and it was fixed. Bill was £637, and was very impressed with safari. |

£700 equivalent (NZ dollars) to get slave replaced and clutch and bearing while we were at it (when in 'rome'!)
I opted for the OEM parts... I did the master myself initially, parts cost only which was minimal - pity it didn't solve it. |
