Td5 seat re-trim

I'm considering retrimming my front driver's seat as the metal has pushed through the seat back. Anyone used one of these?

Done both my front seats.
The only real tricky bit is securing the bottom cover by pushing on the retaining rubber trim. The edges of which are too sharp and can actually cut into the new vinyl (don't ask how I learnt this) so I devised a bodge whereby I first flattened the edges with some sandpaper

I used something similar from exmoor trim recently. It was a very straight forward process, I just followed the Youtube videos. I agree that it was a pain to get that rubber on ended up gentle tapping it with a hammer al the way around, then pulling it tight with the string. Then you hammer in a couple of finishing pins to hold it tight.

Make sure you have a good staple gun for the headrests, you fold over the cover like a present then staple it on to wood piece. Then replace the cover and screw that to hold it together. Also note that I didn't get foam for the head rests in the exmoor trim kit but tore the foam off assuming there was one in the box.

so had to glue that back on!! Seems weird that they don't include that.

The foam was easy to fit, just spray the glue over let it go tacky and hold into position. Fairly simple.

My seat frames were rusty, so I took a wire brush to them back to the metal. Oiled up the mechanisms to get them running again. Then sprayed a couple of coats of hammerite straight to metal. Look like total brand new seats now and work!

Just done a retrim with the Exmoor kit. The second one is easier!
Just follow the videos and keep in mind the point on ripping the trim if you get too medieval with the rubber strip.
