I went along to a meeting, but they're about an hour and a half drive away. The meeting had a load of people complaining at each other and going round and round in circles discussing things and I decided that whilst the people I spoke to were friendly enough I didn't have the time to waste hours of it at tedious meetings.

It's combined Norfolk and Suffolk but the meeting is (or was) in a place that's seemingly difficult for everyone to get to.

I applied to join but then couldn't make the initial meeting as the missus was ill.
Sent them an email letting them know and got a shirty response back 'questioning my commitment' so told them where to stick it.

I went to the SE meeting a few years back and found the same thing - people were just there to complain that they hadn't been 'deployed' ..... Confused

Same here, was interested in Surrey a few years back, but was less than impressed by their attitude, manner and behaviour.

Decided I'd rather not be associated with them ............... Rolling Eyes Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

NH183 here, huge team with little to do but getting involved in the annual joint exercise which is admittedly a bit of a hoot. Think we had a good 45 trucks out last year providing logistics for search and rescue, fire service and minor casualties.

The rest of the year the main involvement is volunteering support to charity events like marshalling the race for life and similar events and the response team charity always gets a little donation which is good given the lack of call outs in recent years.

My only gripe with 4x4 response teams is the lack of standardisation in training and rules of the road, something I hope improves over the years. The voice of central 4x4 response uk or some such isn't as strong as I would like, in some ways it's a shame it isn't all one organisation, one charity with separate devisions but that's just me. That is all changing since the 2015 AGM. Speak to your committee who will have recently had some paperwork from us at National. North Cumbria Search and Rescue - Team Leader
