Yep I have the same situation.
As far as I can determine it is down to the difference between iOS and OSX and the way they operate. iOS is a mobile operating system so it has built in capability to keep you logged in (for updates, notifications, etc) whereas OSX has evolved as a desktop operating system and assumes that security is paramount and auto logs you off sites to lower the risk of someone else posing as you on your own device. I know, I can't figure the logic either but thats how they're built so I guess we just have to live with it.....unless..... ------------------------------- 👲🏻 1986 ex-Military 90 NAD 2.5 Soft Top. I use an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. With none of them I have this experience with Defender2.net, all three keep logged in.
However on another forum, I have to log in usually several times a day, very annoying! I regularly get asked to log in on here with both my iPhone and iPad - the inconvenience is highlighted by the fact that it doesn't happen on any of the other sites I visit. I'd put it down as a peculiarity of this forum ...?

Check that you are not using a "Private Window".
Click, File, New Window, then try again. |

This can be an effect of the forum software. Do you view the forum while mobile (away from the WiFi you use the Macbook on) ?
The cookie that gets set to allow the browser to "remember me" can be linked to IP address and/or browser version at the server end. When it sees a login for the same account using a cookie from a different browser or IP range it can clear the record of other cookies from the server. When your browser "presents" the outdated cookie to the server it's then not recognised. One possible cause of this is using different browser versions, if you're using the latest iOS and an older version of OS X it might be that that is killing off the cookie. One thing to check is your Safari preference, as stated above the browser needs to store a cookie on your Mac to allow you to auto login. Once you have logged in, in Safari go to Safari -> Preferences -> Privacy Tab. Make sure your Cookies and Website Data setting is set to "Allow from websites I visit" or "allow from current website only". You can also click on the small "details..." button below the remove all data button, do a search for defender2 and make sure that it lists an entry there which should say something like Cache, Cookies, Local Storage. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |
