Aircon Interior/Exterior cable bending - baffle action poop
Gidday all,

Wednesday fun times inside the dash controls... Whistle

So the aircon exterior/interior baffle 'thingy' that switches incoming air from the external intake to the passenger side footwell, it's quite tough to move - easy enough by hand, but when I (re)conect the cable from the dashboard controls it'll just bend at the control end when I go from exterior to interior - enough to put a permanent kink in it so it's only good for tension from then on, i.e. moving from exterior to interior, once (as you cant go back)

It's quite bl$&dy obvious why, and I'm confused as to the design choice leaving so much free cable for the 'return' action on a mechanism that needs so much force to move.

Dear Land Rover:

Unsheathed cables dont do well transmitting compressive forces!

So, well, ok maybe the baffle shouldn't be so rough/hard to move, sooo, question:

>>> Has anyone removed the aircon motor assembly and played with the intake switchy thingy? I've lubed it up er, 'gallantly' but no real improvement.

Is this a puma thing? Or just my vehicle?

Maybe a new (and less stressed) cable might be the go?

And while we're having fun inside the dash, what/where is the part number for the rather odd green-rubberised 12V 2W bulb for the clock? The local auto shop that does bulbs is like: Rolling Eyes Rolling with laughter

Ahh, thanks, yeah '509TMGR' seems like the key search string. SOLD. I'll put some green lighting gel around it from work. Top stuff Wink

As for the aircon I've decided it's much more 'Land Rover' to:
    1. Pull up to the lights.
    2. Pop the hood.
    3. Reach in and switch aircon mode at the actual baffle.
    4. Close hood.
    5. Drive off.

Keeping up appearances and all that Shocked
