when rolling to a stop and the car in neutral there is a clunking noise and also you can feel a slight shudder thru the gear box( i think) Question . it doesn,t happen all of the thime and as the car is getting more k,s on it 10k it is getting less frequent. any ideas ?? series 3 swb gone . o5 defender gone

Dasha, Best thing to do in this case is take it to your dealership and let them put the "earmuffs" on and let the warrenty work its wonders. Mine did a similar thing, turned out to be something small with the rear diff. They replaced the unit with a new one-no problems. Razz

Mine did that - especially when warmed up.

The dealer adjusted the parking brake and that solved it....

... for a while. Started doing it again now.

I'll have them adjust it again but next year I'll stick an X-eng disc brake on it instead of the heavy drum lump (I can't believe how much metal gets spun up!) One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Mine did that, turned out to be the UJ on the rear propshaft. Should that go in only 2 1/2 years of use?

Merlin.

Yeah, mines done that since the day it drove off the forecourt. Sounds like back lash on front diff to me but will take it in to a dealer when i can find local dealer with a decent service department (if there is such a thing). "If it ain't sideways, you just ain't tryin'!
