That was a really interesting read, that 101FC is huge!

The 101 looks big and of course it is tall but the overall length & width are comparable with a RRC. Where it really wins is in the size of the load-bed, large enough to cope with almost anything.
It is one of those vehicles that you should consider owning if only to get it out of your system, having done a 12-month rebuild I kept mine for about 5-years so it wasn't just a whim, I really got "into" the ownership but having been there would not want another one. Leaving the oh so wet ARC National in Sussex in 1996, only a short trip around the M25 and then up the M1 to go! It was after this weekend that I decided to kit the rear out as a rudimentary camper, nothing permanently fixed but it was very effective and saved setting up a tent when the weather was awful. Click image to enlarge The biggest problem when off-roading an unladen 101, stiff suspension resulting in no articulation. This was at a RTV run by my ARC club, the vehicle performed very well until I tried to get through a gate that had been set up for leafers & 90's, the 101 was just a tad too wide to make it. The answer to the suspension problem? A few sacks of sand in the back (can't remember how much but it was a few hundredweight) and the result was supple suspension and decent articulation! Interesting to read about your motors, but are you sure the SWB was ex-SEB? *WD was a Warwickshire reg, and I would have expected side indicator lamps on an SEB vehicle of that age. Or is it a private reg? I have four ex-SEB trucks. 2011 110 USW
