Door Corrosion - how quick is too quick?
Hi

Five years on from a full rebuild on a galv chassis, the new doors I had fitted have all started bubbling up with bi-metallic corrosion in the usual places, starting from about 4 years old. Obviously I knew they would go eventually, but this seems rather early.

I was told they were genuine new LR doors at the time, so I just wondered whether anyone with 2011 vehicles is experiencing this yet?

And any tips for explaining a couple of grand on new galvanised doors to SWMBO? Big Cry Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8

Since the Puma in 2007 for sure (maybe earlier but not sure about that) all Defender side doors are steel only, no more alloy was used at all. Don't think any Puma doors, unless vehicle has been entirely neglected and abused, should be rusting at all. My 2008 built doors show zero rust, so a 2011 surely should be like that too.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
