As far as I know the 2.2 has a mechanical vac pump driven off the rear end of the offside camshaft (so quite different to the 2.4).

Is there no limited vacuum or is the servo not holding it? Cheers

It's got Bowler brakes front and rear. One has to properly stand on the pedal to get the thing to stop. Just wondering if there is an issue with the servo or perhaps the servo just isn't man enough to operate the brakes to their full potential. The Bowler brakes have been fitted for a few years. I'm running around in a standard 110 and the brakes are a lot better. 130's have feeling's as well you know

I assume you’ve done the standard servo test?
Press brake pedal numerous times till hard pedal achieved, then start engine and see if pedal drops. You can also just pull vac pipe out of servo whist engine is running. That will tell you if pump is working. |

Pull the vac pump hose off the servo. Engine off. Is there a hiss as hose is released? If yes how does it compare doing same on the std 110?
With engine running, is there vac at the end if the servo hose? Enough to make finger go red! Sounds like either resistance in system or not enough initial assistance. I suspect either sticking pistons or faulty servo. This is presuming it's been ok since upgrade 2yrs ago? Servo is working ok, I'm having to replace the rear pads as the are properly worn, fronts are ok. The fronts are the same age as the rears I find it strange that the the rears have worn out before the fronts 130's have feeling's as well you know

My def seems to wear out rear pads before fronts too. Extra weight at the back vs a front drive hatch means the backs are working harder. 2014 Keswick Utility 2.2

Same here with the rear pads. My MoT advised they were getting low a few weeks back so I decided to swap both front and rear to be safe. The fronts would have lasted another 10,000 miles easily (painful for someone as 'fiscally aware' as me...) but the rears were nearly gone.

You would have thought that with weight transfer and the bias sending the brake force to the front, the fronts would wear out sooner. Perhaps the rears being smaller causes them to wear quicker. 130's have feeling's as well you know

Yep, I think the smaller pads also play a part.
What with the engine being up front it’s tempting to think the back doesn’t do much, but of course there is still a heavy driven axle back there, plus the spare wheel and if you have a rack a big component of that weight will be on the rear axle too. The rear brakes also get all the dirt and grit in road spray which the fronts don’t see as much of. The difference in the rate of wear is much worse if you regularly use unsurfaced roads, and doubly so if you’ve removed the rear brake mud shields.

Turned out to be the servo suspected pin hole, new one fitted and a vast improvement. 130's have feeling's as well you know
