Help - My NAS tow step has no instructions!
Sorry to bore you all again Sad , but here goes...

Just opened the box with my new NAS tow step.

Problems - One end is damaged Evil or Very Mad - can unbend it hopefully

The fittings pack is open - Am praying that all bolts etc. are there.

I should really send it back, but it's too much of a pain to take to work and get collected.

So....other big problem is...no instructions! Just the tow step, three bits of metal, plus a bag of bolts!

Anyone have any photos or even PDF of the manual they could share? I'd like to get it fitted this weekend, but don't know what goes where!

Promise I'll keep quiet after this - Call it Newbie's verbal diarhhoea!!

Send it back, get one that aint bent, with the full fittings pack, and fit it using the correct instructions!
I'm just about to order a NAS step, and would be really fekked off if it was damaged on delivery..
Is it a genuine Landy part, or a copy that you got?

Edit to add that Land Rover Monthly has an article on fitting a NAS step...

You really should send it back, it's not worth mucking about with repairing or sourcing missing bolts. Maybe if it was very cheap, or going on a tattier Defender, but not a brand new one Sad

Accessory fitting instructions should still be on the LR site at http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com or wherever they've moved it to this week. Select the vehicle and then press "Owner" at the top right on the blue bar. Check in "Access"

When the PDF has loaded, you can press the "Maximise" button (white square on dark blue bar towards top right) - then save from Acrobat Reader (assuming that's what you're using).

December's LRM - full pictoral guide to fitting it (although personally I'd send it back - more inconvenient in the short term, but in the long term you're not constantly looking at it thinking that it's still not quite straight...) Peter

I agree that it ought to go back, why accept damaged goods? Once you get the replacement fitting is pretty straight forward.

I confess that I took off and sold the last one I had on my Defender before last as I got fed up knocking by shins on it when getting stuff in and out of the back door. Steve.

Thanks all again.

I probably over-stated the damage a bit (yes, I know it should be perfect!). A tiny corner of one of the mounting flanges at the end is slightly bent, and the paint chipped. Probably where the box has been stood on its end and dragged on the floor.

A quick tweak with some padded out mole grips, and a dab of satin black paint, and it should be fine.

Thanks to Martin for the link to the LR manuals download. I have now downloaded the instructions, and done a complete recce of all the screws and bolts. Seems I am (miraculously!) not missing any parts.

I agree about the not accepting substandard goods etc. (and I would normally be the first to complain). But, in view of the hassle of packing it up again, shipping it to work, and getting a replacement sent, and the fact that damage is very minor, I'll probably keep it.
