You can cut some quite nice slots in a hawse fairlead with steel rope. 😊
I've gone back to steel rope because
a. I don't use the winch often enough to justify the cost
b. It takes a great deal of care and attention to keep synthetic rope in good shape and I'm lazy.
And c. With all these people buying synthetic rope, steel ropes are cheap and plentiful.

I have always had a warrior winch, not the most expensive brand, but not the cheapest either. I would say good value for money. I have the s12000 and it has never let me down.

Well thanks for all the advice, I have been reading with interest Thumbs Up

It looks to me like it all comes down to personal preferences in the same way as we all like our cars modified in slightly different ways.

I have found myself a winch and will soon collect and fit it.

I have gone for a warn 9.5xp winch which is fitted with a wire rope at the moment but I will eventually change it for a synthetic rope.

Looking forward to testing it out as soon as possible,
