Not that I've heard of but would depend on the severity of the damage I would suppose. My passenger side is slightly damaged.

I had it as an advisory on the MOT when I bought my Landy. It had been an advisory the previous year too. It was definitely a result of the dreaded door striker/catch. I replaced both - relatively inexpensive and a doddle to fit ![]() I haven't caught it in the catch since but I don't know if that's because I'm more conscious of doing it (or not doing it) or not f it's that the new belts retract a lot better/quicker. |

This used to be picked up a lot on the army's equivalent to an mot, we then started to fit seatbelt protectors which did make a big difference in the amount of seatbelts we picked up.

How do these protectors work? Secured around the belt or on the B pillar?

If you put a rubber band around the belt and the recliner mechanism, it holds back away from door aperture and saves it getting caught on the striker.

Thanks for the feedback so far - interesting post from Mash regarding the MoD solution. Once again it appears we have had an 'issue' that third parties have provided a 'solution' to.
Be interested to see a posting from one of the forum members who is closer to actually conducting MoT tests? |

Was "advised" to keep an eye on mine at the MOT in January.

Hi.
Fit seat belt pads available from Halfords, ( foam lined and Velcro fixing)and slide them down to where the belt catches against the door catch, probably less then a tenner, as recommended to me by my local indy. |

Would they really help - more likely will just get torn up as well as the belt when slamming the door.

Hi Supercat
I have had these foam sleeves fitted for three years, they covered with some sort of heavy fabric, the proper use is to spread the the load over your shoulder , so I believe. They work a treat, no damage to the sleeves is apparent . they fit by opening them up and velcro back together. I believe there is a post about these way back in Def 2. Edward |

Mine was replaced by the people I bought it from at 13k miles because it was very badly damaged.
I've put 8k miles on to it and never caught the strap in the door. |

The mrs caught my passenger one badly and it was flagged as a fail on the mot until my mechanic used a soldering iron on the sticking out bit of material which melted back into the belt, so the mot place passed it. I'm going to replace both of the fronts soon though. Ray
