Are you about? Saw your (excellent) post on the lro forum re jump start cables and anderson connectors etc.
Have you thought about doing a "kit"? ie 3 metres of suitably rated cabling, Andersons and clips, all crimping done, cable for battery through seat box to anderson? In case anyone is scratching their head thinking whats this about? you can read it here http://www.lro.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=...p;p=543949 |

Thanks Mike
But have a look HERE on Defender2. Note the dates of posting. Must admit I intend expanding/tidying that post up and doing it as an information leaflet. A lot of information on Anderson connectors can be found HERE Trying to tread carefully here lets say we have siamese/twinned cable which helps keeps jump leads neat and tidy and can do leads to peoples own specifications. We do make 3.5m and 5m jump leads etc. Information on cable we use can be found HERE Can't/won't try to compete on prices with many of the ebay type suppliers. I believe one of the LR mags (LRW) are doing an article on Anderson connectors in the near future. Same magazine is apparently doing an overland feature in their February issue Brendan |

The cable we use is twin 35mm2 cable made from 1083 x 0.2mm copper strands per core. The higher the number of copper strands/smaller the diameter of individual strands the more flexible the cable is. The cable is rated at a continuos 240 amps or 500 amps on a 30% duty cycle.
As a rough rule of thumb a copper cable can carry 7 - 8 amps/mm2 Hope that is of some help Brendan |
